Pre-Christmas Mood with Qbo Coffee

A special coffee recipe for the Christmas season

Christmas in around the corner and I would like to give you guys another insight on Qbo coffee. Moreover, I would like to share one of my favorite coffee recipes, which fits perfect into this special season.

In my previous blogpost on Qbo I talked about the different ways in which I like to drink my coffee. Also, I talked about the Qbo App, which it is able to work its magic by composing preset coffees at the click of a button with your phone.

As you well know, I’m not one of those people who are in favor of just one specific type of coffee. I’m rather the person who keeps her ‘coffee-options’ open! Anyhow, there is one coffee type I would always order (if restaurants and coffee shops would offer this special coffee more frequently on their menu). Its called Milchmädchen Coffee aka maiden’s coffee and its close to the Spanish Café Cortado. Its basically a shot of strong espresso filled with very little milk, a lot of milk foam and a shot of condensed milk- obviously crowning this special creation.

I’ve tried this exceptional coffee the first time in Berlin at a restaurant called DUDU, which is famous for its delicious sushi creations. Every time I visit this inspiring city, it became a ritual to have dinner at least once there. Feasting obviously terminates with a final round of maiden’s coffee. Since I now owe a Qbo coffee machine, I am able to create this style of coffee conveniently at home. And indeed, the machine is able to conjure the Maiden’s Coffee just as good. My favorite Qbo coffee flavor I use for this recipe is the Sidame Royal, which is made of precious Arabicas from Ethiopia.

When preparing a maiden’s coffee, it is important to follow the order of filling. Only then do the beautiful layers appear in the glass. First the sweetened condensed milk is added to the glass, followed by 60 ml of Qbo espresso and on top of it comes a shot of milk and the milk foam. I added ground cardamon, since it has this spicy, herbal, citrusy character and it would also goes very well with nutmeg or cinnamon. This does not only give it this special twist but it fits perfectly into the Christmas season. And as you well know, nothing speaks more to me than the blend of those spices.
